Nothing new but that’s not a bad thing

Nothing here at CES is anything that I haven’t seen before. There were no personal jet packs, x-ray vision goggles or pocket teleportation devices.

This is only slightly disappointing however.

What I DID see was an amazing VARIETY of vendors. All the things we’ve been buzzing about for quite some time now are here and they’re here en masse. There were TONS of TV/display vendors, tons of phone/pda/music device vendors, tons of everything.

What this says to me is that high end technology and consumer devices are now becoming accessible to everyone. This also says that there is real competition in these areas which ultimately benefits all of us as consumers since the price points on all these gadgets will be coming down significantly. As all this technology becomes cheaper, we should expect to see it present in our every day lives more and more. Magazine thin OLED displays will become commonplace. GPS enabled eveything will give exactly locations of yourself and everything you need to connect with.

Everyone else is going to get a chance to catch up.
